I Was Born With 2 Tongues
Emily’s old Chicago-based spoken word group, now no longer active but memorialized in the new Maya Lin-designed MOCA Museum, NYC and whose album “Broken Speak” is still frequently used in high school and university classrooms across the country.

25 To Life
Emily associate produced this in-progress documentary tackling issues of race, sex, and masculinity. It centers on an HIV-positive African American man who’s turning his life around and affecting those around him.

Someone I Used to Know, a feature starring Emily, Rex Lee (Lloyd from Entourage), Brian Yang (Hawaii Five-0) & a great ensemble cast, premieres in LA on May 6! It’s a finalist for Best Narrative and the Jury Award at the LA Asian Pacific American Film Festival.

-Emily has booked a recurring lead role on the Sci-Fi/Crime pilot, The Dark Son.

-Emily has booked a guest star on the new web series, “Dogs and Me.”

-Emily has booked a supporting lead role in the upcoming feature, “The Asthmatic Lover,” shooting in Thailand, NYC, and India this spring.

-Mouthbreather, written by & starring Emily, featuring Marc Valera (Melrose Place, CSI), and directed by Rules of Engagement/How I Met Your Mother writer/producer Gloria Calderon-Kellett, has been officially selected to premiere at the renowned Newport Beach Film Festival as well as the Los Angeles Asian American Film Festival! We’ll have updates soon.

December 2011

The Lid has changed its name to Cruel Will and is premiering very soon! Shanghai Hotel, in which Emily plays the young version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘s Cheng Pei Pei, won the Best Film Award at the BronzeLens Film Festival in Atlanta. Emily was interviewed about both projects, as well as nightdreamblues, here and here.

October 2011

Emily has just wrapped shooting the feature film, nightdreamblues, featuring Rex Lee (Entourage, Suburgatory), Kara Crane (Disney 360), & Brian Yang (Hawaii Five-0).
Emily recently booked & shot a role on the ABC series, Body of Proof! She also booked and shot a role in the SAG showcase short, The Reginald Lewis Story, a true biopic about the first African American billionaire.

Emily booked a national commercial for Time Warner Cable. She also booked and shot the short film, “One Mistake,” as part of the 48 Hour Film Project – San Diego. One Mistake won the Audience Choice Award and went onto the finals “Best Of” night in SD, where Emily won the award for Best Actress!

July 2011

Emily recently booked a co-star on 90210, fulfilling her 5th grade dreams of being closer to Dylan McKay.
She also booked the role of Bonnie in the upcoming ensemble feature film, Nightdreamblues, produced by 408 films.

Colin Hearts Kay Wins Audience Award

The Conley Brothers’ indie feature film, Colin Hearts Kay, starring Emily as title character Kay, won the Audience Award & Best Editing Award at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. All 3 screenings were sold out. It also won the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature & the Audience Award at the New York United Film Fest. Congrats to the cast/crew!

EMMY AWARD!!!

Emily just got back to LA from the 53rd Annual New York Emmy Awards Gala, where she and her team won an Emmy® Award in Best Business/Consumer Feature/Program for The Atlantic Monthly’s documentary series, “On the Frontlines.” Alongside Emily was her amazing co-host, NPR/The Atlantic’s national correspondent James Fallows, and the NY Times’ Joe Nocera, and of course the heart of the team, producers Bob Schapiro and Dovar Chen. The series beat out 1600 other entries and was nominated in 2 categories, Best Documentary and Business/Consumer Feature. Best of all, the awards were presented by Dr. Ruth and Rocco di Spirito. Can’t beat that! Congrats to all!

BIG NEWS!

Just got word that Emily has been nominated for 2 Emmy® Awards for her work with The Atlantic’s On The Frontlines: Doing Business in China!!! The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – New York Chapter announced on Feb. 26 that the team was nominated in the Documentary and the Business/Consumer categories.

February 2010

-Emily booked & shot a series of 6 more national spots for Optimum (Cablevision), to run through August.

~Emily booked & shot an industrial with Sealed Air Corp (the makers of bubble wrap!). Covered by Jimmy Fallon, The Colbert Report, and the broadcast news networks, this was the company’s 50 Year Anniversary commemoration video and seen by over 17,000 employees nationwide.

January 2010

~Emily has relocated to Los Angeles! She’s currently enrolled in the Comedy Intensive at Lesly Kahn Institute (studying with Lesly). More news to come soon!
